Battleground, Washington: Average home price $152,000. Named for a battle that was never fought, but was actually settled peacefully between the Native Americans and Fort Vancouver soldiers in 1855, Battleground is a bustling community located north of Vancouver. It features in-town neighborhoods, as well as rural homesteads and a strong community spirit.
Ridgefield: Average home price $265,000. A small tight-knit waterfront community--Ridgefield is the entry point to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. Ridgefield also has a unique downtown with restaurants, retail businesses, kayak rentals and two city parks. July 4 is the town?s crown jewel, with the city?s annual old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration drawing thousands. Also the Clark County Fairground is located in Ridgefield.
Yacolt: Average home price $178,000. A country paradise--Yacolt is located northeast of Vancouver. Residents have easy access to urban services, yet retain a high quality of life in a scenic country setting. The East Fork Lewis is just five minutes south of Yacolt.
LaCenter: The tiny town of La Center may provide a lifestyle free from the hustle of the big city, but it offers unique diversions available nowhere else in the country. Casinos are the big attraction in LaCenter promising excitement, entertainment and top-notch restaurants--all within walking distance in the heart of town. Salishan Vineyards, the only vineyard in Clark County, is just north of town.
Camas/Washougal: These are neighboring cities that form one community east of Vancouver. Situated on the shores of the Columbia River they serve as the gateway to the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area. Washougal celebrates its heritage with its own town festival called, ?Frontier Days?. Lacamas Lake, just north of Camas, is a popular boating, fishing and swimming location.
