When Purchasing Property Ask for Incentives
Filed Under Blog, Portland · Tagged: Portland Realtor, Price, Relocation, Supply and demand, Vancouver Realtor
It is a buyers market when there is an excess of properties for sale, and realty takes an unusually long to time to sell. That is the current situation with Vancouver and Portland real estate.
In this market a buyer is usually successful when asking for the selling price to be lowered along with incentives. Following is an example of an incentive:
1. If you are putting ten percent or more down, you can ask for up to six percent of the price of the property to be lowered.
2. If you are putting less than ten percent down, you can ask for three percent of the price.
Nothing guarantees you will get everything you ask for, but sellers and some lenders are generally willing to negotiate and give you something. This could help in lowing your closing costs.
